So when I was 12 my mom gave me my grandma's jewelry. She had these beaitiful earrings and necklace that matched. The earrings were for people who didn't have pierced ears, so I couldn't really wear them. Until I dismantled a pair of earrings years later.

So this was my first jewelry creation. I love wearing them too. They are fancy, yet not. Ha ha

So inside my pretty wrapped box that Mark gave me was some yummy chocolate, a gift card to Sephora, and a brand new ipod.

I got Mark some stuff for his go pro camera, which he seemed pretty happy with.

Mom liked her new earrings and dad liked his new car matts. Ernie got a gift card to Chipotle. Peanut got a bunch of gifts and he also had fun helping to unwrap our gifts as well.

The only person missing today was Jimmy, my older brother. He is living in Mexico teaching English. I miss him a lot. Hopefully he can get enough money to come home to visit soon.

Christmas isn't just about gifts. It's about family and spending it with those you love.

I found my Christmas gift from Mark....well it wasn't really hidden. And the wrapping is so pretty!

I finished my Chritmas Shopping today. I'm glad too, but I still have wrap everything.

On another note. Have you ever just looked at your co-workers and just wanted to kick them where it counts? Just the ones who show up to work sick. And instead of avoid everyone, they go up to each person and tell them to stay back because they have a cold. And then as the sneezing starts, and the runny nose takes off, you look at them and think 'thanks asshole!' Yea, I'm pretty pissed right now. Being sick is the last thing I want.

December 14th, 2011

Recently I bought myself a new pair of slippers. I love them! They are so warm and soft. Perfect for cold winter nights. I got them from Steve Madden and they are called Comfee.

They are so comfee that I never want to take them off.

It's funny how something small can make you think of someone. Like little coffee creamers.

Today while out with Mark we stopped at the Lincoln Waffle House in DC for breakfast. They give you little creamers for your coffee and I instantly remembered how I would always drink my grandma's creamers like taking a shot. Ha ha. If she didn't like me doing that, she never let on.

My grandma passed away in 2002. I miss her a lot. I believe though that she stopped by to say hi today in the form of that memory.

Love ya gramdma!

I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus lately. Why? Because I moved in with Mark and half of my stuff is still at my parent's house.

I took this pic at work this morning. I love full moons, but I could do without the crazy people that seem to come out of no where. Ha ha

Right now I am too excited.  I can barely write this post.  Ha ha ha.. I've always wanted a butterfly in a jar and unfortunately a real butter fly will die in a jar.  But not this one!

If you want a butterfly in a jar for yourself you can go to ThinkGeek.com and find it. Or just click this link.

I love it!!!

I just finished reading this book.  It was a good read.  A little slow and long at parts, and had tons of typos and spelling errors, but still good.  It follows a roman doctor trying to make it in the world and his day to day encounters with slave traders, and brothel owners.  I put off reading it for a long time, but I am glad I finally got around to reading Medicus by Ruth Downie.

So yes, I did finish reading the third Prophecy of the Sisters book, the Circle of Fire.  And it was a great ending to the trilogy.  Lia has to find the 4th key, the stone, and convince her sister, Alice, to join her cause and stop Samuel and the souls from crossing over into their world.  I'm not going to ruin the ending or the book for you.  I think you should definately start at book 1 and read all the way through to book 3.  Such a great story!

October 26th, 2011

I have been a reading fool this week.  I have finished 3 books.  Well one was more like a short story, and it was pretty funny.

Let's start off with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After

It follows Elizabeth Darcy and Fitzwilliam after their marriage.  There are still Zombies.  There are still ninjas.  And worse yet, Mr. Darcy has been bitten.  Elizabeth travels to London to find a cure... if it really does exist.

I loved it.  I loved all the fighting and zombie mayhem.  It's a great follow up to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Next we have the short story, The Princess and the Penis.

This is nothing more than a hilarious little fairytale about a princess who finds a Penis in her bed, and he turns out to be her true love.  If you want to have a little giggle, go ahead and read this one.

Lastly is Guardian of the Gate (Prophecy of the Sisters, Book 2).  You may remember that back on September 9th, 2009, I posted a blog about the first book.  Well I have finally gotten around to the second one and it was a great book.  You follow Lia on her quest to find the keys and the pages that will help her stop her sister for good.  There is some unexpected romance and some seriously fun adventure.  I have also downloaded Book 3 to my kindle and will let you know when I finish it.

So I decided to do a little review of a website I recently tried to order from. It is called shearsforhair.com, and I'm not happy with their poor customer service.

Two weeks ago I placed a small order. I'm always looking for new places to shop for grooming supplies and stuff for my scissors, and I thought I would give them a try. Two weeks after placing my order, I heard nothing of this order. No update what so ever. I sent an email, no response. I called and left a message, no response. Finally I contacted google checkout to see if they could get through about my order. They did.

The seller's response is that they tried to contact me to tell me the items were out of stock numerous times, and have cancelled my order. They flat out lied. No one ever contacted me, and if I could leave a review about them on google checkout I would. It would state the same thing as here on my blog. Also if the items I ordered were out of stock, why were they still offering them on their website?

So with that being said, I do not recommend the website shearsforhair.com. They have poor customer service and don't deserve your business.

Last week on Tuesday, Mark and I took a little day trip. We went to NYC and had a pretty good time. We saw the Statue of Liberty, had a nice meal at Eataly, and then when home. We were going to see a play, but all the ones we wanted to see were sold out.

I finished reading two books recently.  Both were excellent.

One book was called Marysvale and it was about a young man who really had a special gift and that he was having a few issues because of it.  In the process of finding someplace new to live, he learns things about himself he has long forgotten.

The other book was called House of Dark Shadows.  This family moves into a house and they start experiencing strange things. Next thing they know, they are traveling through doors into other lands in search of someone very important.

Last but not least, I leave you with a picture I took the other day while I was walking out of work to my car.

So back when hurricane Irene came tearing through the state of Maryland a couple weeks ago, Mark and I went to go see my best friend and her husband because it was her birthday.  She has two boston terriers and one is laid back, and the other is kind of goofy.

So here is Gus and his goofy self, trying to attack the flashlight, because he doesn't like them.  LOL

I just finished reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and I loved it.  You read about Lincoln as he grows up and the details of his life that made him go into vampire hunting.  I just loved how it contained entries from his journal and pictures that show him and people who were supposed to be vampires.

Really this book was amazing, I had trouble putting it down.  Only doing so when I had to sleep or go to work.  Check it out and I promise you won't be let down.

I just finished on my kindle a short called An East End Murder.  It was like a teaser of sorts for a whole other book by the author to get you interested.  It was pretty good, but now I am wishing that I had the whole book to read and not just a teaser.  Guess I will have to break down and buy the book.

Sorry I don't have a link to the book, there seems to be issues with the gadget I use to post links to my blog with.

Have you ever ordered something and really didn't like it, but at first thought it was pretty cool.  That's what happened when I ordered from Petedge.com a pair of wahl nail clippers that had a built in grinder.  After using it I decided it was pretty lame and wanted to return it.  So I called Petedge.com and got a return reference number and called it a day.  But wait... I have a bit of a gripe about Petedge.com.  Not only if you don't order $60 in stuff they slap you with a $7 packing fee, but if you happen to have any kind of return of any item you bought, you have to pay to ship it back.  It really wants to make me use them less and less.  Yea, Ryan's shipping may take a couple extra days to get here and you pay out the ass for it, but if they have a better return policy I'm using them instead.

Well, that's all I have for today.  I just needed to get that out there.  I know it's a rough economy and all, but I think that a customer should not have to pay for shipping on an item they are returning.  It's just poor customer service.

Today was very exciting.  As most of you know I live in Maryland and unless you live under a rock, you know that there was an earthquake in Virginia.  Virginia is south of us, and where the earthquake epicenter was is about 2 hours and 30 minutes away.  I was at work when the quake happened and let me tell you, it was a little scary.  Mostly because I work in a grooming salon and most of our "walls" are in fact glass windows.  It's like a fishbowl, where you can watch groomers groom dogs.  Everyone who had  a dog grabbed the dog that was on there table and went outside.   After a couple minutes we all went back in the building and resumed our day.

When I got home, mom filled me in that Peanut hid under the bed from the time of the quake until I got home.  Poor dude, he must have been scared.  When I walked into my room I assessed the damage, ha ha.  There wasn't any.  My brush fell off my dresser, and a couple picture frames fell off the bookshelf.  In all seriousness though, I hope those who were closer to the epicenter are ok, and no one was seriously injured.  That includes my internet friend Shari, her husband, and their Miniature Schnauzer, Bodie.

I just finished reading Blood on the Tracks, which is a story about the great railroad strike in America.  I liked it.  I was a piece of history that doesn't get covered in history books.  So many people died fighting for what was right after the railroad lowered pay and people couldn't live off those cuts.

Check it out!

Poor mom. She is in the hospital right now with a bleeding ulcer. She takes a lot of meds. She has multiple sclerosis, arthritis and has had two strokes. I feel bad for her, but hopefully it isn't too bad and they can figure out what to do to make it easier on her with all her meds.

Fingers crossed and say a prayer.

I ordered some really cool nail polish from Sephora last week and it just came in.

I got the Blasted White, and I like it. You apply it over a nail color of your choice and as it dries it cracks. I chose to put it over Essie's nail polish called Dive Bar. It's a black with a blue green irridesance. This is my new nail look, for at least a few days.

This book took me a while to read.  Not because it was bad, it was actually quite good.  But because I have been so darn busy.

Cathy Hildebrant is an Art History professor who has published a book about Michelangelo's work.  Little does she know that there is someone who took her book literally and has recreated one of his sculptures and dedicated it to her.

This book was great.  It had suspense, and not cheesy-super-predictable-suspense either.  The ending was great!  Be sure to check it out.

It's my last week of grooming academy at Petsmart. I'm glad. I've learned a lot, but still have parts there I'm really slow. Like faces. I'm still slow when it comes to faces.

I'm sure I will get faster as time goes on.

Well after coughing for about a week I drove myself to a Righttime Medical Care. It's like an ER, without the wait. I guess you can say it's more designed for people who can't get in to see their regular doctor for things like sprains and colds.

So I get checked out, and I have an upper resporatory infection. Awesome. Now I have some antibiotics and a cough suppresant to help kick this in the but.

In other news, look what I got! Isn't it purdy?

Yesterday  I had to take Peanut to the emergency vet for Colitis. This is the second time he has had it and it can be quite upsetting to see. But I learned something new. You can give your dog Pepcid AC for an ipset stomach. Also dogs who eat a lot of grass can get colitis because they can't process the fiber.

Hopefully I can get his tummy on the straight and narrow and we can stop this. I am going to visit the holistic dog food place to pick up some probiotics for him, and hopefully that will help.

Here is a pic of Peanut patiently waiting for his test results of pancreatitis. They alway test schnauzers for it because they are prone to it.

Peanut is too funny. I picked his bed up off the floor so that I could vaccuum, and he obviously thought I should have been supervised.

Good to know that at the age of 6 he still thinks I should be supervised. Ha ha.

June 6th is right around the corner and that means I am that I am that much closer to becoming a dog groomer. I start my training at Petsmart's Grooming Academy. Should be a great time, with lots to learn.

Poor Peanut!  He got so sick yesterday.  He started vomiting at 230 am and didn't stop until close to 7 am.  I took him to the vet and he is the model of perfect health, except for the upset stomach and the resulting dehydration.  Now he has some meds to take and some special food to eat for a week.  He is already feeling better.  He tried to go after my cheese I was eating.  Ha ha.

Well today I finished two books.  I'm not sure you can call them books, they were more like short stories to me.

This one was pretty interesting.  Photographs and Phantoms is a ghost story, if you can't figure that out from the title. Amy takes pictures, and strange images keep showing up in them.  So she calls on a family member to help her out.  There is also a bit of romance in this story.

I wish there was more to the story, length wise.  I wanted to keep reading, but there was nothing left to read.  Like I said, more like a short story than a book to me.

The Abandoned was the other story.  It was ok.  When it ended I was ok with it.  Ree volunteers at a Mental Hospital and the woman she watches over, passes away.  Soon she has the feeling that something is with her, but she doesn't believe in ghosts.
