March 20th, 2009

Before I get to today's post.... Last night when I got home, and was getting ready for bed I noticed something on my leg right around the sock line... A TICK! I have no idea where it came from as I was not trapsing through talls grass or running through a forest. I walk Peanut on the sidewalk.... So strange. I will be watching the spot where the tick was on my leg to see if it get red. If so I will have to go to the doctor!

Now onto today's post!

I was struggling to figure out a post for today... until I got an email from the Solomon's Island Winery! I really enjoy their wine. It's safe to say you may be able to find their wine in your local wine/liquor store as they cover most f the east coast. If not, unless you live in Maryland, you can order wine off their website and have it shipped to you. I highly recommend the Blueberry Pinot Nior. But the wine used for the following drink is really good too!

Enjoy!

Green Apple Melon Twist

4 oz of Island Mist Green Apple Riesling
1 oz of Melon Liqueur
Shake with ice and pour into chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a thin slice of green apple.

Oh sorry to hear about the tick!! I am so scared of them....sometimes they are hard to get off.

Thanks for the wine recipes. I love a good glass of wine. I will check their site out, not for sure if they sell in NC.

Marie, oh wow I am sooo scared when it comes to bug bites especially mosquitoes because of the West Nile virus, my friend's 2 year old daughter contracted West Nile and is now paralyzed on her left side. Ticks I don't know too much about other than the fact they may be carriers of Lyme disease which has 3 stages and it usually takes between 1-4 weeks to detect it but just do as you said you would and keep a watchful eye on the spot. I'm sure you're okay!
Hey perfect timing for wine recipes and a good bottle of wine to celebrate Spring's first day and days to come!!!- Thanks

Hey Debra (Tangerine Kitty), lucky for me he was relatively easy to get off because he had only been on me for a few hours. Though he did put up a fight. Crazy!

You're welcome for the wine recipe. And hopefully you can get some of their wine... I so need to take a trip to the winery to buy some. It's an hour away from me, but so worth the trip.

Hi Gerri! I am not a fan of bug bites, they hurt and now we have to worry about diseases. Ugh... I read it takes 3 - 30 days for a bulls eye or target looking rash/mark to appear at the bite area of a tick bite if you have lyme disease. I'm hoping this doesn't happen.

It is a perfect timing for wine recipes, you are solely welcome. :-)
